Praying for the Heart of West Dallas

21st Feb 2017 | Written by: Scott Hanson

Serve West Dallas kicked off 2017 by praying for West Dallas and all the work we’re doing in the community this year. A well-represented and excited group of our Ministry Partners and SWD Board members came ready to intercede for West Dallas and pray for the ministries. This year’s theme was “Shalom” and we prayed for four areas of brokenness that separate us from the shalom of God.

Highland Park Presbyterian Church provided a perfect setting for us to come together - - THANK YOU Caroline Krause.  Pastor Arrvel of West Dallas Community Church opened our time with a devotional about unity. Then Rachel Kramer with Mercy Street used her gifts to provide the structure for our prayer together through her fabulous prayer guide. Trey Hill closed our time together with some Scripture and leading us in the Lord’s Prayer. A special thanks to our worship leader, Lexie Okeke, and her guitar that managed to get everyone to sing together.  And, let’s not to forget the glue and organizational skills of Chrissie Ozuna for pulling of us ALL TOGETHER.

One of our Ministry Executive Director’s shared, “This was just what I needed.  I arrived so out of sorts to the prayer retreat this morning, but our time of prayer helped me bring everything back into perspective. Thanks for making it such a special time, I wish we could do this twice a year.”
